If you would like a chance to work with our animals, we have volunteer opportunities available for both Dogs and/or Cats.
Those interested in volunteering should have had some prior experience with Dogs or Cats in their home (owner, childhood family pet, etc.). 
Those who would like to work with our Dogs specifically should be physically capable of handling dogs up to 50 lb. There are some opportunities for less experienced individuals and those only comfortable working with smaller dogs; however these opportunities are much more limited. Please also note that volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.

If you are interested, the first step is to sign up for one of our volunteer training classes. These classes are held monthly
(usually on the 3rd Saturday of the month). The classroom portion will be held at either The Stelton Community Center or The Edison Public Library (Main Branch), which is immediately followed by the hands-on training held at the Edison Animal Shelter (for weeknight classes we will typically hold the hands on portion of the class during the next scheduled Wednesday or Saturday Volunteer Session.)
Pre-registration is required in order to ensure your seat in class. The registration fee is $20, which includes classroom training, on-site training, and a Sammy’s Hope volunteer t-shirt upon completion of the class. Our schedule for 2012 is:
