About

Sammy’s Hope is a volunteer-run rescue group that finds Forever Homes for dogs and cats in shelters.  Currently, we are working closely with the Edison Animal Shelter in Edison, NJ to adopt out many of their large breed dogs and homeless cats.

We took our name from one of the dogs in the Edison shelter called Samson (“Sammy” for short). He is a large brindle Pit Bull/Boxer mix whose sweet demeanor and winning personality stole all of our hearts. We felt he exemplified all of the wonderful qualities of these misunderstood dogs but knew that it would be difficult to find him a forever home given the public’s perception of Pit Bulls. The idea behind “Sammy’s Hope” was that we would work our hardest to bring some hope to the future of Sammy and all of the animals like him unfortunate enough to find themselves homeless.

Sammy has found his hope in a wonderful forever home.  He is thriving in his new environment and bringing joy to those around him as a loving family pet.

If any of the animals on this site grab your heart, and you might be able to offer them a home or foster, please contact us directly by filling out the Contact Us form or emailing info@sammyshope.org. Sammy’s Hope is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization. All donations are tax deductible under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Thank you!
