Meet the Fosters and then become one! Spring is here and the first kittens of “kitten season” are making their appearances in shelters and rescues all over the State. Last year, Sammy’s Hope had just taken our first steps into the sheltering business. By necessity, our participation and ability to assist with the deluge of little felines was small; but this year, we are ready, willing and able (with your help) to assist our rescue and municipal shelter partners during this very stressful and busy time.
All of our kittens will be eating on their own when they go into foster so they are really easy to foster. They don’t require a lot of time and they give lots of love (and laughs) in return. All you need is a spare room, or corner of a room, to set up a crate, which we will provide, and a commitment to feed, clean and love some babies for anywhere from 2-6 weeks, depending upon the kittens’ age on intake.
We invite you to learn more about how you can help at one of two Kitten Foster Orientations to be held on Tuesday, March 29th at 7:00p.m. and on Sunday, April 10th at 10:00a.m. Both orientations will be held at the shelter. Even if you aren’t quite sure whether you can be a kitten foster parent, give us the chance to explain the program and what fostering means to you and the Lives You Will Save by Becoming a Foster Parent. (P.S. having a dog does NOT preclude you from fostering kittens)
Please let us know if you can come to an orientation by sending an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line "Kitten Foster Orientation." We look forward to seeing you on either March 29th or April 10th. If you cannot attend either of the orientations, but are interested in becoming a Kitten Foster, please email us and we will be happy to fill you in!
