UPDATE: Rescued! Mocha has been pulled by the wonderful folks at Loving Care Pet Rescue who will be working to help her with her fear aggression. We are so grateful that she is with people who love her and want to see her rehabilitated. Mocha is a striking tan and white beauty who came into the shelter as a stray. She is an American Staffordshire Terrier who is under 2 years old. She enjoys her walks, but what she really loves is being petted and touched. She is a gentle sweetheart around people. Upon petting, she will almost immediately roll over on her back for a tummy rub. She is more interested in being with people than playing with toys or swimming in the kiddie pool. She pulls a little on the leash when she first gets out, but then settles down and “checks in” (to make sure you are still there) on her walks. She likes being petted so much that she seems to respond to commands like “sit” just to receive praise and a good scratch.
Mocha is fearful of other dogs and will show “fear aggression” towards them. Her ideal forever home is with a single person or a couple who can provide her with a safe, secure, loving environment, and who have the time to work with her slowly to rid her of the fearfulness around other dogs. Prior experience with the breed is highly recommended.
